    Amanda –

Great job on your powerpoint. I feel you really detailed some of your student’s strengths and addresssed the solutions to some of his areas of weakness. It seems as if you came up with a fairly effective plan.

As far as your classroom management and community, I love your use of the word “prevention” and how you try to express the expectations consistently so students will know when they are behaving approapriately. I also agree when you said that since it cannot always be prevented that rules will be broken, a direct correlation to consequences should always be in place. Students need that sort of expecation to be held accountable to.

    Great work!

      Amanda,

It has been interesting to follow your case study student all along through your blog. I have found that I am the most interested in how the students’ background impacts their behavior at school. I have seen several students behavior change drastically depending on which parent they are with for the week, etc. For your student, I am wondering where he has learned all of these behaviors. He has to have heard cursing and seen fighting before if he is demonstrating these behaviors. Do you feel like any of it is a reflection of home? Or does he have friends that display similar behaviors? I really like your ideas for this BIP. I think that this student really benefited from your work, whether he realizes it or not. Thanks for sharing.

I have loved getting to read about you and your case study and then seeing you in action at our student teaching site. I especially love your ticket system. I think that it is very unique and I have heard you express that more importantly it seems to be working! I have especially enjoyed seeing you keep a positive attitude about your case study throughout this experience. I think that one of the hardest parts about behavior management is that it can be so draining!
Of course I also appreciated hearing what you had to say about rules, routines, and procedures. It has been very interesting having had that drilled into our heads and then seeing it in practice. It is funny how quickly I, and I am sure you have done this too, was able to pick out exactly what I do and don’t want to put into place in my own classroom.

Great work on your powerpoint! I enjoyed looking through it.
